Spirits cannot rest far from country
Professor Shane Houston, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Indigenous Strategy & Services invites you to attend this significant ceremony.
For well over a century, The University of Sydney has assembled a collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestral remains. For more than three decades Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have sought a respectful return of Ancestors from Museums at home and overseas. Truganini was the first Ancestor to be returned from an Australian Museum in 1976. The spirits of Ancestors cannot be at rest when they are far from country.
